  Pregnancy

The pregnant teenager will be prepared physically & mentally for the birth of their baby.

This will involve N.V.Q training. .

A pilot course was run which began on 30th October 2003, continuing every Monday and Thursday and finished on January 22nd 2004.  All who were involved in the N.V.Q. course were sucessful and were awarded their N.V.Q.

The Crisis Pregnancy Testing Service helped the young expectant mum to consider all the options open to her, enabling her to make the right choice for her and her baby's future, i.e. adoption, fostering or abortion.  If the young mum decides to keep her baby, she will be given options through various N.V.Q.'s etc., to gain lifeskills to enhance the life of her and her baby.

In the near future the young mum will be given the opportunity to reside at the centre and undertake the courses during her stay.  Should the young mum have alternative accommodation she would be able to come in to the centre on a day care basis to undertake the courses.

Young mums through the project, would have training on budgeting, and cooking.

The preparation of nutricious meals at this point in their lives being so important for their babies development before birth.   Without this consideration for nourishment the baby could suffer.

Similarily if the young mums living conditions are poor the baby could suffer.

In offering these very basic but essential services, the project would be protecting the young mums and their babies suffering from miscarriage, still births or neo-natal deaths.
